Matthew Adam Garber was a British actor and filmmaker who most notably played Michael Banks in the 1964 film Mary Poppins.

He appeared in only two other films, The Three Lives of Thomasina and The Gnome-Mobile, all three times appearing alongside actress Karen Dotrice.

On 13 June 1977, he died at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London, of hemorrhagic necrotizing pancreatitis, aged 21.

In 1976-1977, Garber was in India and contracted hepatitis. He returned to London in June 1977, seeking better medical treatment.

It was too late as the disease had infected his pancreas. He died soon after, the official cause being hemorrhagic necrotizing pancreatitis.

His body was cremated at St. Marylebone Crematorium (East Finchley, London) on 16 June.
