More than 30,000 tickets to Shane Warne’s memorial service were issued in less than three hours, and organisers said more seats will be made available as different areas of the Melbourne Cricket Ground fill up.

The complimentary tickets handed on Tuesday were for the venue’s northern grandstand, which overlooks the Great Southern Stand, which will be renamed after Warne, according to a Melbourne Cricket Club official, although other portions of the pitch will be made available after it reaches capacity.
Tickets for general admission are available for free on Ticketek, and there is no handling fee. Family, friends, dignitaries, and invited guests will be given priority seating.

After the Victorian government announced updated details about the memorial on Tuesday afternoon, the ticketing system looked to be running successfully.
