Nathan Drew Morgan: Why Rescuer Who Saved And Later Killed Drowning Man Won’t Face Charges

Authorities say a good Samaritan who shot and killed a drowning man he was attempting to help in South Carolina will not face criminal charges.

Prosecutors said the unidentified gunman killed 29-year-old Nathan Drew Morgan, who was drowning Tuesday in Lake Keowee, in self-defence, according to WBTW-TV.

Morgan and his friend allegedly fell off their jet ski without life jackets, and the rescuer attempted to assist them by manoeuvring a pontoon boat to them.

After being brought to safety, Morgan became aggressive, causing the gunman to shove him back into the sea. When Morgan climbed back on board, the man opened fire.

Morgan was shot in the chest and died as a result, according to the Oconee County Coroner’s Office.

“Certainly have never seen or heard anything like that,” Brandon Thomas, a local resident, told WSPA-TV after the incident.

“That’s somewhat shocking, especially considering the location,” he continued. “That’s insane. Definitely out of the ordinary out here.
