Is Gai Waterhouse ill?

Gai Waterhouse is not ill. However, her father became ill in 1994, and following his illness,  she took over his Tulloch Lodge stable, and she has since trained 145 G1 winners and won seven Sydney trainers’ premierships.

In 2021, Gai Waterhouse revealed how she’s haunted by a furious row with her legendary trainer father Tommy ‘TJ’ Smith just before he had a fatal stroke.

On Anh’s Brush With Fame on ABC, Gai Waterhouse revealed how the pair clashed bitterly in Sydney 23 years ago when he criticised her training technique.
