Who Was Sierra Jenkins? Ex-CNN journalist and Virginian-Pilot reporter killed in Norfolk restaurant shooting

Sierra Jenkins was a Virginia newspaper reporter who was one of the two people killed during a shooting outside a restaurant and bar.

Sierra Jenkins covered education and schools for The Virginia-Pilot of Norfolk. She grew up in Norfolk and graduated from Georgina State University. She also worked as an intern at Atlanta Magazine and CNN before joining The Pilot in December 2020.

Sierra Jenkins died at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after the shooting outside Chicho’s Pizza Backstage, this is according to officials.

Norfolk police detectives were investigating the shooting, which also resulted in injuries to three others. Jenkins was caught in the crossfire as she was leaving the bar, restaurant manager, Rory Schindel said.

No arrest has been announced but police say the are still investigating.
