What was the Astros’ offer to Correa?
Thus far, the Astros’ best offer to Correa was a five-year deal for $160 million. The AL West-rival Texas Rangers signed shortstop Corey Seager to a 10-year, $325 million contract in December, before a three-month lockout began.
Correa’s initial demands did not fit within the Astros’ standard operating procedures. The five-year, $160 million deal they offered before the lockout did nothing to sway Correa back toward the only franchise he’s ever known.
