Born in 1923, George Montague first married a woman and had children with her before divorcing to remarry a man.
In one of his narratives, Vera Montague, his first wife, was a woman he respected so much because of how she understood him and accepted him like he was during the marriage.
Mr. Montague, now married to husband Somchai, 50, has since spent years campaigning for equality and acceptance of same-sex relationships.
