St Mary’s Head Girl Car Accident: How Did Sally Hicks End Up In Coma?

A prestigious private school’s head girl has tragically died, seven months after a horrific car accident left her in a coma. Sally was appointed Head Girl as the college celebrated its centenary.

Sally Hicks, 17, was critically injured in August when her car collided with trees and the Goldfields pipeline near Cunderdin, 156 kilometres east of Perth.

Sally died at Bethesda Hospital in Claremont on Monday as a result of her injuries. The teen’s heartbroken family has paid tribute to their ‘beloved daughter and sister’ with an outpouring of grief.

Parents Sonia and Steve, as well as brothers Daniel and Ryan, wrote, “Forever in our hearts.” ‘Fly with the angels and keep an eye on us, darling girl.’

Sally had organized a fundraiser for West Australians affected by cyclone Seroja just months before the tragic accident. She had also taken part in an international student exchange program at Connecticut’s Westover School, where she was known for her ‘infectious smile.’

Detectives from WA Police’s major crash team are looking into the circumstances surrounding the horrific collision.

When the accident happened, a woman in her 50s was driving with four passengers: three teenage girls and another woman in her 50s.
