Who Was Alier Riak? Winona State Basketball Player Killed In Melbourne Stabbing

Alier Riak was a rising basketball star who was stabbed during a violent brawl in Melbourne’s CBD over the weekend.

Riak who lived in Western Australia, died at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in the early hours of Sunday. Victoria Police are still on a man-haunt for the man involved in the murder case.

This comes after the police found wounds on his upper body after they were called to reports of a brawl between a group of men in Bourke Street in Docklands.

Members of the basketball community were among those mourning Mr. Riak’s death on Monday. Riak had only last month signed up to play with semi-professional basketball team, Darwin Salties in the Northern Territory in 2022.
