Tamar Bucci, a Massachusetts State Police trooper, was killed in a crash on Interstate 93 in Stoneham overnight while attempting to assist a disabled vehicle.

Bucci, 34, of Woburn, was assigned last month to the Medford Barracks. On May 6, 2020, she became a member of the Massachusetts State Police. She worked as a personal trainer and in the security department at the Encore Boston Harbor casino before joining the state police.
Bucci attended both Andover High School and Middlesex Community College. Bucci is survived by her parents, two sisters, a stepbrother and a stepsister. Bucci is the 22nd Massachusetts State Police officer to be killed in the course of duty.
According to Massachusetts State Police Department Col. Christopher Mason, Trooper Bucci’s cruiser was hit by a tanker truck carrying a full cargo of roughly 10,000 gallons of gasoline as she attempted to pull to the side of the road to help a stalled driver.

“Trooper Bucci was killed late last night while attempting to assist another person in need on a section of the road she patrolled every night on the midnight shift. There is no greater act of sacrifice than giving one’s life for the sake of another “Mason stated.
Bucci was rescued from the highly damaged cruiser by two kind strangers and a Stoneham Police officer who happened to be nearby performed CPR on her before she was transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was declared dead.
