Ian Wright is an accomplished English former professional footballer, and television and radio personality working for BBC Sport and ITV Sport.

Ian Edward Wright MBE was born on November 3, 1963, in Woolwich, London, the United Kingdom as the third son of his Jamaican parents Nesta Wright and Herbert Maclean. He was brought up by his mother, Nesta following his father’s absence.

Ian Wright has played with London clubs Crystal Palace for six years and Arsenal for seven years. He has played for West Ham United, Celtic, Burnley and Nottingham Forest. He earned 33 caps for the England national team while scoring nine international goals during his 581 league games.

Ian Wright was rated as Arsenal’s second-highest scorer of all time as well as Crystal Palace’s third-highest back in 2021. Following his retirement from football in 2000, began his television career as a guest host on Top of the Pops.

Ian Wright began hosting a new primetime game show for ITV called Moneyball. He was previously hosting his own chat show, Friday Night’s All Wright. He was awarded an MBE for his services to football after retiring.

Ian Wright has two sons with his then-girlfriend Sharon Phillips, including Shaun Wright-Phillips and Bradley Wright-Phillips who are both professional footballers.
