Who Was Darren Criss’ Brother Charles, And Why Did He Commit Suicide?

Darren Criss revealed on Wednesday that his older brother, Charles Criss, died by suicide last week at the age of 36.

The 35-year-old actor shared the sad news on Instagram, alongside several photographs of Charles — whom he referred to as Chuck — from happier times.

Darren wrote; ‘It breaks my heart beyond measure to say that my beloved brother Charles has left us,’

“However, given the limited time I’ve had to analyze everything, I’ve managed to put some words together that may help with some of your questions.”

“And, while writing this brings me the deepest pain I’ve ever felt, it gives me comfort to know I’m putting it out there.”

Darren called his brother’s death a ‘colossal shock’ and noted that he left behind ‘a debilitating fracture in the lives of his mother, his brother, his three small children, and their respective mothers.’

The actor further said that he had been trying to wrap his head around the tragedy, which he suspected he would be doing for the rest of his life.
