Jack Berman Cause Of Death: What Happened To Dianne Feinstein’s Ex-Husband?

Jack K. Berman, 80, a San Francisco judge, socialite and civil rights advocate, died in 2002, at a San Francisco hospital of head injuries after suffering from a fall.

Berman struck his head on the ground after he collapsed from a heart arrhythmia while playing tennis.

Berman, a former husband of U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), was born in San Francisco and earned bachelor’s and law degrees from UC Berkeley.

He served in the Navy during World War II, and was a defense counsel for the War Crimes Tribunal in Manila in 1946-47. He married Dianne Goldman, who later became Dianne Feinstein, in 1956. The couple divorced in 1960.

Diane Feinstein is now a U.S Senator.

As a member of the Democratic Party, she was mayor of San Francisco from 1978 to 1988.

Feinstein graduated from Stanford University in 1955. In the 1960s, she worked in local government in San Francisco.

Feinstein was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1969. She served as the board’s first female president in 1978, during which time the assassinations of Mayor George Moscone and City Supervisor Harvey Milk by Dan White drew national attention.

Feinstein succeeded Moscone as mayor and became the first woman to serve in that position.
