The NFL has denied attempting to prevent Eminem from kneeling. In an apparent reference to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Eminem took a knee and held his head in his palm; NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy claims the league was “informed” he was going to take a knee.
Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar sang a blazing mashup of their hits at SoFi Stadium on Sunday, bringing as much hip-hop as a stadium can carry.
Eminem dropped a knee and held his head in his palm as his rendition of “Lose Yourself” came to a conclusion, in apparent respect to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

During the 2016 season, Kaepernick took a knee during the national anthem to protest police brutality, and other players followed suit, causing major cultural controversy.
Kaepernick hasn’t played in the NFL since the end of the 2016 season, and it’s widely assumed that he was blackballed by the league’s teams and owners because of his political stance.
