Bollywood actor and former Asian Games gold medallist, Praveen Kumar Sobti, has died at age 74, after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The actor breathed his last at his Ashok Vihar residence.
“He had a chronic chest infection problem. At night, when he started feeling uneasy, we called the doctor at home. He passed away between 10-10.30 p.m. following a cardiac arrest,” a relative of Praveen had testified.

Praveen Kumar had participated in two Olympics before he died and had represented the country across various athletic events in hammer and discus throw. He even won four medals at the Asian Games, including two gold medals in 1966 and 1970.
As an actor, Kumar has appeared in over 50 films, and is popularly known for BR Chopra’s mythological television series ‘Mahabharat’.
He had debuted from the film “Raksha” and was also seen in “Meri Awaz Suno”.
In 2013, Kumar contested for the Delhi Legislative elections on an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket but could not win.
