Wanda Robson Cause Of Death: How Did The Activist Sister Of Viola Desmond Die?

Wanda Robson, the late civil rights activist Viola Desmond’s youngest sister, died at the age of 95. Wanda’s husband, Joe Robson, confirmed her death in Cape Breton on Sunday. Wanda’s cause of death is currently unknown. However, she seems to have passed away due to a natural cause.

Robson, who lived in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, was instrumental in bringing public attention to her sister’s civil rights legacy in Canada.

Joe Robson described his wife as having a “beautiful” personality as he recalled their travels across Nova Scotia and the rest of the country to give Desmond talks.

As a result of Robson’s efforts, Desmond was posthumously pardoned by the Nova Scotia legislature in 2010 — nearly 64 years after she was imprisoned for sitting in a whites-only section of a segregated movie theater in New Glasgow, N.S.

Robson, an activist in her own right, was named a “pillar of the African Nova Scotian community” in the Order of Nova Scotia in December.

At the age of 77, Robson earned a bachelor of arts degree from Cape Breton University in 2004. In 2010, she published “Sister to Courage,” a book that recounted stories from her life.
