According to The Sun, which cited local reports, Paraguayan Cristina Vita Aranda, wife of soccer player Ivan Torres, died after sustaining a gunshot wound in the head at a concert last Sunday.

The Sun reports that gunfire broke out at the Ja’umina Fest while the couple was in a VIP area at the Jose Asuncion Flores Amphitheater, Asuncion. Torres reportedly escaped unscathed, but not without a panic attack.

The perpetrator of the homicide has not been discovered yet, reports say.
It is however believed that Aranda was caught in a crossfire, but police haven’t confirmed anything yet, as the incident is still being investigated.

According to a BBC report, Police Chief Benicio Ramírez told reporters that authorities presume Aranda was not the “target,” saying, “The lady was [nearby] waiting for her husband.”

The intended target was identified as Ederson Salinas Benitez, a local drug dealer who was reportedly present at the concert.
Four others between the ages of 23 and 40 were reportedly hospitalized for gun wounds from the shootout.
The 29-year old model died at the hospital after suffering cardiac arrest and a lengthy series of failed attempts to revive her.
Aranda, who was married to Torres for 10 years, was navigating a divorce after having three children together before her untimely death.
