Jessica Pegula was born on February 24, 1994, in Buffalo, New York, the United States as the daughter of a South Korean mother, Kim Pegula and Terry Pegula.

Jessica Pegula is the middle daughter of American professional sports investor and natural gas tycoon Terry Pegula. She made her Grand Slam singles debut at the 2015 US Open as a qualifier.

Jessica Pegula reached her first WTA singles final at the Tournoi de Québec in September as a qualifier in 2018. She emerged as one of the top players in the World TeamTennis 2020 season after making her debut that same year.

Jessica Pegula has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 18 achieved on November 15, 2021, and a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 46 achieved on October 4, 2021.
