Mamie Till, known in real life as Mamie Elizabeth Carthan was an American educator and activist who is the mother of the victim of the 1955 Mississippi lynching, Emmett Till. Mamie Till was a great supporter of her child who suffered some illnesses during his childhood.

Mamie Till is noted for her statement: “I wanted the world to see what they did to my baby” during the burial service of Emmett Till. Mamie Till was an alumnus of the Argo Community High School, the Chicago Teacher’s College, and the Loyola University Chicago.
