Emmett Till was a young African-American who was lynched after being accused of offending a white woman and her family’s grocery store. Emmett Till’s death brought about the formation of the Civil Rights Movement.

Emmett Till was shot with a gun and was also mutilated leading to his unfortunate death and that drew attention to the history of racist bullying and violent persecution of African-Americans.

How Did Emmett Till Change The World?

The aftermath of the death of Emma Till brought about a massive change in the United States of America and the world at large. The death of Emmett Till sparked a lot of conversations and led to the formation of a group of activism called the Civil Rights Movement in the United States of America.

Emmett Till’s death led to the uniting of the Black community to speak against racial discrimination and violence. Although the abuse and violence against the blacks are still ongoing, it was reduced after the death of Emmett.

The Emmett Till Antilynching Act has been introduced to criminalise lynching.
