Scott Cooke McCreery was born on October 9, 1993, in Garner, North Carolina, the United States as the son of Judy Cooke and Michael McCreery.

Scotty McCreery’s father worked as a manufacturing systems analyst for Schneider Electric, while his mother is a real estate agent for Fonville Morisey and also owns a tanning salon in Clayton, North Carolina.

Scotty McCreery was raised alongside an older sister, Ashley who attended UNC Charlotte. Scotty attended Timber Drive Elementary School in Garner, West Lake Middle School in Apex, as well as Garner Magnet High School.

Scotty McCreery emerged as the winner of the tenth season of American Idol on May 25, 2011. His debut studio album, Clear as Day, was released in October 2011 and was certified platinum in the United States.

Scotty McCreery later made history as the only country music artist in Country Aircheck/Mediabase history to chart a song without the backing of a record label.
