Amy Schumer was born on June 1, 1981, in Upper East Side, New York, the United States to Sandra Jane Jones and Gordon David Schumer who owned a baby-furniture company.

Amy Schumer’s parents later divorced. She has a younger sister, Kim Caramele, who is a comedy writer and a producer, as well as a half-brother, Jason Stein who is a musician in Chicago, Illinois.

Amy Schumer attended South Side High School and then the Hebrew school of the Central Synagogue of Nassau County, a Reform synagogue in Rockville Centre. She attended Towson University where she graduated with a degree in theatre in 2003.

Returned to New York City after college, Amy Schumer studied at the William Esper Studio for two years. She has worked as a bartender, a waitress and a pedicab driver.

Amy Schumer tied the knot with chef and farmer Chris Fischer on February 13, 2018, in Malibu, California. On May 5, 2019, the pair gave birth to a boy, Gene.
