Robin René Roberts was born on November 23, 1960, in Tuskegee, Alabama, United States as the daughter of Lucimarian Tolliver and Colonel Lawrence E. Roberts.
Robin Roberts was brought up in Pass Christian, Mississippi. She is the youngest of four, siblings Sally-Ann, Lawrence, Jr., and Dorothy. Her father was a pilot with the Tuskegee Airmen.
Robin Roberts attended Pass Christian High School and graduated as the class of 1979 salutatorian. She later attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, graduating in 1983 with a degree in communication.

Robin Roberts was the first woman of colour and first openly LGBTQ+ woman to host the American TV game show “Jeopardy!”. She was a sportscaster on ESPN for 15 years and became co-anchor on Good Morning America in 2005.
Robin Roberts was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012. Her treatment for the myelodysplastic syndrome earned her a 2012 Peabody Award for the coverage.
