Natalie Wood was born Natalie Zacharenko, on July 20, 1938, San Francisco, California, United States to Maria Zudilova, and her second husband and carpenter Nicholas Zacharenko.
Natalie Wood began her acting career at age four. She was given a co-starring role at age 8 in Miracle on 34th Street (1947). Natalie Wood was the recipient of four Golden Globes and three Academy Award nominations.

Natalie Wood died off the coast of Santa Catalina Island on November 29, 1981. She passed away at age 43 and was on a holiday break from the production of her would-be comeback film Brainstorm (1983).

According to Thomas Noguchi, the then chief medical examiner for the County of Los Angeles, the cause of Natalie Wood’s death is accidental drowning and hypothermia.
Natalie Wood had been drinking and may have slipped while trying to re-board the yacht. The actress was yachting with her husband and co-star Christopher Walken when she disappeared and drowned.
Natalie Wood’s body was found on 29 November off the coast of Catalina Island.
