2022 is lit with highly anticipated movies to set you up for a jolly ride in the new year. It turns out that moviegoers are not ready enough for what’s coming – The Northman!

The Northman is an upcoming American epic historical thriller film set to be distributed by Focus Features in the US and Universal Pictures internationally. Directed by Robert Eggers, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sjón, the upcoming film is set at the turn of the tenth century in Iceland, where a Viking prince Amleth sets out on a revenge mission after the murder of his father.
The Northman Movie Cast
The Northman sticks landing on the marketing with a star-studded ensemble cast of award-winning actors from America, the UK, and Iceland.
The film stars Alexander Skarsgard as the protagonist Amleth the Viking prince, supported by Aquaman and Spider-Man: No Way Home actor Willem Dafoe, Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers actress Nicole Kidman, The Queen’s Gambit’s Anya Taylor-Joy, and Knives Out 2’s Ethan Hawke.
Alexander’s brother, Bill Skarsgard, who is best known for playing Pennywise in Stephen King’s It horror film series, left the project to be replaced by Gustav Lindh due to schedule conflicts.
It also stars Kate Dickie, Murray McArthur as Hákon Ironbeard, and English actor Ralph Ineson. The Icelandic cast include Björk as the Seeress, Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson as Sorcerer, , Ian Gerard Whyte as Thórvaldr, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson as Thorfinnr, and Ísadóra Bjarkardóttir Barney.

The Northman is scheduled for release on April 22, 2022, by Focus Features.
The Northman Filming Locations
Following interruptions from the COVID pandemic, filming began in August 2020 at Torr Head, County Antrim, and Ballygally near Larne in Northern Ireland. and in Malin on the scenic Inishowen Peninsula in County Donegal, Ireland the following month.
