What is It’s A Sin based on? It’s A Sin is based on the true-life story of the writer, Russell T. Davies. It is about his own life and his friends who lived as young adults in London in the 1980s.
Even though not all the events from the miniseries were completely picked from the writer’s past life, it is believed that it was largely based on his experience as a 20+ a gay man in the United Kingdom during the 1980s.
