Cowell, despite forming the vocal group, parted with Il Divo in 2017. The group said that their creator Simon Cowell is now just “an old friend”. Il Divo member and Swiss singer, Urs Bühler said they split with Syco because their contract was terminated and that it “came to a natural end”.

“With Simon Cowell, he put us together, he had the idea, he made the investment at the beginning,” Bühler added.

Cowell is said to have been heavily involved in the group’s first three albums, but Bühler reported that Cowell’s career turned out to incredibly busy that his involvement became declined, even to the point of being hardly involved with Il Divo’s last couple of albums with Syco.

Cowell’s relationship with Il Divo has remained healthy despite the events of the past. In the event of Il Divo member Carlos Marin’s passing, Cowell led a flood of social media tributes to the fallen music icon, writing on Twitter that the news left him “devastated”.
