Royal Variety Performance 2021 Line-up, Host, Tickets, Performers, Dress Code

There isn’t a show in the history of showbiz, nor indeed in the history of television, that compares to the Royal Variety Performance; the very best in entertainment from around the globe has been presented annually since the show’s origins in 1912 when His Majesty King George V and Her Majesty Queen Mary made an appearance at the first ‘Royal Performance’ at London’s Palace Theatre.

The Royal Variety Performance is the annual fundraising event of the Royal Variety Charity, whose sole patron is Her Majesty The Queen of England.  The event forms a major part of the entertainment industry’s annual calendar and commands over 152 million worldwide TV audiences.

This year’s performance, happening at the grand Royal Albert Hall in London, marks the 109th event, making it the world’s longest-running entertainment show to date.

Royal Variety Performance 2021 Line-up

The Performance will feature 2019 artist-of-the-decade Ed Sheeran, international sensation Sir Rod Stewart, the cast of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s phenomenal Matilda The Musical, who are celebrating an incredible 10 years in the West End, chart-topper Anne-Marie, and music from Years and Years.

Also returning to the Performance stage are performers Cirque du Soleil, and Brit Award winner James Blunt coming with some of his greatest hits.

Moulin Rouge The Musical joins for an exclusive performance, plus Germany’s The Messoudi Brothers who will stun fans with their breathtaking hand-to-hand act.

Presenter and treasured comedian Alan Carr will host 2021’s Royal Variety Performance. Last year’s performance, which was held on December 8, 2020, was hosted by Jason Manford.

Royal Variety Performance 2021 Tickets

The Royal Variety Charity remains the sole supplier of tickets for the Performance. Tickets, starting from £55.00 in aid of the charity, are usually not for resale nor are they transferable or refundable. A photographic ID, passport, or driving license, is needed with tickets to verify ticket purchaser upon entry to the venue of the event.

Royal Variety Performance 2021 Performers

This year’s Royal Variety Performance will see a massive host of sensational performances from the various acclaimed stars on the line-up for the event. The top of the list remains Ed Sheeran, but he is not the only bright shining star that will illuminate the stage on December 19 this year.

Other respected musicians and Grammy Award winners such as Gregory Porter and Elvis Costello, an actress Keala Settle and the Some Voices choir special collaboration, and comedians Judi Love, Bill Bailey, Chris McCausland, and Josh Widdicombe will be stellar performances of the night.

Royal Variety Performance 2021 Dress Code

The Royal Variety Performance over the years has seen about the same specific rule when it comes to the dress code for the night. It’s usually regal, elegant, and dripping with nobility.

  • Women: The black-tie dress code calls for a floor-length gown.
  • Men: Black tie means bow tie, dress shirt, and tuxedo.
