The Indian Chief of the Army Staff is the head of the Indian Armed Forces and is the highest-ranking officer in the Indian Army.

The Army Chief serves as the principal advisor to the Minister of Defence on military-related matters, a key military advisor to the supreme commander of the Indian Army, the President. General Manoj Mukund Naravane, who took office on 31 December 2019, currently occupies the role of Indian Army Chief.

After the 7th Pay Commission, the Indian Army Chief, on a level 18 pay scale on the salary chart, receives a ₹250,000-monthly salary, which is equivalent to US$3,300 a month.
