Percy Julian was an American research chemist who made great research in the chemical synthesis of medicinal drugs from plants. Percy Julian was born on April 11, 1899, and died on April 19, 1975, at the age of 76 years as a result of liver cancer.

Percy Julian was one of the early African-American chemists’ pioneers to receive a doctorate in chemistry. Percy Julian was the second African-American to be inducted into the National Academy of Sciences.
