Edward James Orgeron Jr was born on July 27, 1961, in Larose, Louisiana, the United States to parents, Edward “Ba Ba” Orgeron Sr. (d. 2011) and Cornelia “Co Co” Orgeron. He and his brother Steve were brought up in Larose, in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana.
Ed Orgeron is of Cajun descent. He attended South Lafourche High School in Galliano, Louisiana. He played on the school’s Class 4A state championship team in 1977 and signed to play football at Louisiana State University.
However, Ed Orgeron left the program after his first year to transfer to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He played college football as a defensive lineman at LSU and Northwestern State University.

Ed Orgeron was the head football coach at Louisiana State University midway through the 2016 season. He had previously served as the head football coach at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) from 2005 to 2007 and was the interim head coach at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2013.

The LSU Athletics Department released a statement Monday afternoon on September 13, 2021, announcing that the daughter of running backs coach Kevin Faulk has passed away.
According to a statement from the university, Kevione Faulk has died at the age of 19. However, the cause of death is not immediately known. Kevione Faulk is the daughter of current LSU running backs coach Kevin Faulk and was also a student worker for the LSU Football staff.
