Betty Shabazz was an American educator and civil rights activist who became a household name due to her marriage to Malcolm X. Betty and Malcolm X exchanged vows and had six children together: Attallah, Qubilah, Ilyasah, Gamilah Lumumba, Malikah and Malaak Shabazz.

Betty Shabazz was renamed Betty X after she joined her husband in the Nation of Islam in the mid-1950s. Betty Shabazz became a single widow after her husband, Malcolm X, was assassinated tone year after they left the Nation of Islam in 1964.

How did Betty Shabazz get burned?

Betty Shabazz was burnt as her house was set on fire and she died just three weeks as a result of her burns and injuries. It is revealed that the fire was caused by the ten-year-old grandson of Betty Shabazz called Malcolm. At the time of Betty Shabazz’s death, she was survived by her six children. Betty Shabazz died on June 23, 1997.
