Gavan O’Herlihy was an Irish-born American actor known became famous for starring as “Chuck Cunningham” in the first episodes of “Happy Days.” Gavan O’Herlihy was born on July 29, 1951, and passed away on September 15, 2021, at the age of 70 years.

Why did Gavan Herlihy leave Happy Days?

Gavan O’Herlihy revealed in an interview in 2007 that he left Happy Days because the character was too dry to keep his interest. Davam stated: “I was going to come in, grunt, bounce a basketball once every couple of weeks for probably three or four years, and at 20 years old, that’s not the gig you want to be doing.” As a result of this, Gavan O’Herlihy left “Happy Day” after the first episode.

Gavan O’Herlihy was survived by his wife, Juliette; and his children, Rogan, Lonan, David, and Daniel.
