What caused the Edmund Fitzgerald to sink?

Till now, many people still wonder what causes the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. So, what caused it?

The loss of Edmund Fitzgerald was mainly the loss of stability as well as buoyancy. This was as a result of massive cargo hold flooding.

The cargo hold flooding happened through the hatch closures that were not effective as there was a roll along of boarding seas along the spar deck.

When the shipwreck happened, there were more than 26k tons of taconite on board. This is what made this shipwreck one that caused the most and highest financial loss in the sinking history of Great Lakes.

Why was the Edmund Fitzgerald so famous?

One of the reasons why the Edmund Fitzgerald was famous was due to its specs and build.
Edmund Fitzgerald was an American Great Lakes freighter.
However, he sank in on the 10th of November, 1975 in Lake Superior. This was during a storm. This sinking led to a 29 man crew losing their lives.
When the Edmund Fitzgerald was launched on the 7th of June, 1958, it stood as the largest ship ever on the Great Lakes. Also, till date, she stays as the largest to sink there. Also, none of the bodies were recovered till now.
