Kali Chaudas mostly falls take place a day before the actual Diwali takes place.

Kali Chaudas is the second day of the Diwali festival. Kali Chaudas is the same as Chhoti Diwali and they are both celebrated on day 2 of the Diwali festival. In 2021, Kali Chaudas is generally called Naraka Chaturdasi and it was celebrated on November 3. Naraka Chaturdasi or Kali Chaudas is celebrated to liberate any soul suffering in hell. Kali Chaudas is a day to pray for peace to the defiled souls of the ancestors.
