Kano Jigaro was a Japanese educator and athlete who is known to be the founder of Judo. Kano Jigoro, born on October 28, 1860, and passed away on May 4, 1938. Kano’s birthday is celebrated as World Judo Day.

Kano Jigoro served as director of primary education for the Ministry of Education for Japan from 1989 to 1901. Moreover, Kano served as president of Higher Normal School from 1900 to 1829 and helped to make judo a basic sport in public school extra-curricular activities.
