Virat Kohli was born on 5 November 1988 in Delhi, India into a Punjabi Hindu family to parents, Prem Kohli and Saroj Kohli. His father, Prem worked as a criminal lawyer while his mother, Saroj Kohli is a housewife. He was raised alongside an older brother, Vikash, and an older sister named Bhavna.
Virat Kohli lost his father on 18 December 2006 due to a stroke after being bed-ridden for a month. He was brought up in Uttam Nagar and began his schooling at Vishal Bharti Public School.
Nine-year-old Virat Kohli was part of the West Delhi Cricket Academy’s first intake in 1998 where he trained under Rajkumar Sharma. Virat Kohli and his family lived in Meera Bagh until 2015 when they moved to Gurgaon.
