Despite the fact that there are no strict international guidelines for passport colours, states choosing colours is not a random thing. Countries often pick colours that represent their culture, politics, or faith.

Blue Passport Meaning

The second most common color for passports remains blue. This symbolizes “the new world” and 15 Caribbean countries use this colour for their passports.  These nations include India, the United Kingdom North America, South America, Australia among others. South American countries, including, Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay use the blue passport.

One of the most famous blue passports is the one issued to US citizens. The blue passports are also called regular passports, ordinary passports or tourist passports come with a blue cover and are issued by all US passport agencies to most US citizens with the goal to travel abroad.

The UK also has had blue passports since leaving the EU and have been phased in since the beginning of 2020.
