In an email written back in 2011, now-Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden used racial language toward NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith, according to a Wall Street Journal story. More emails have now surfaced, and they are concerning.

Gruden’s emails were discovered in a separate league inquiry, according to a New York Times piece published on Monday 11th October 2021, and they contained homophobic and misogynistic slurs.

Gruden takes aim at NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in the emails., who he called a “f—-t” and a “clueless anti football pussy,” per the New York Times. Additionally, Gruden said that Goodell should not have pressured then-St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher to draft “queers,” which is in reference to the team selecting Michael Sam in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Gruden took aim at former San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid, who kneeled during the national anthem, saying that he should be fired.
