According to the New York Times, Gruden used racist, sexist, homophobic, and transphobic language in the emails, which stretch from 2010 to 2018, just before he was hired by the Raiders for his second stint with the organization.

According to the New York Times, he often called NFL commissioner Roger Goodell a “f—t” and a “clueless anti-football p—y.” He also used homophobic slurs to describe NFL owners, coaches, and reporters who cover the league
Gruden is also said to have sent Allen and others emails with photographs of women wearing only bikini bottoms. Two Washington Football Team cheerleaders were said to be in one of the photos.

According to the New York Times, Gruden and Allen also included Ed Droste, the co-creator of Hooters, Jim McVay, a former Outback Bowl executive, and Nick Reader, the founder of PDQ Restaurants.

Gruden also chastised greater concerns that arose in the league or were otherwise the subject of debate. During former President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign, he reportedly criticized him and dubbed then-Vice President Joe Biden a “nervous clueless p—y.”
According to reports, Gruden also reprimanded the NFL for striving to limit concussions and said that Eric Reid, who stood up during the national anthem to protest police brutality, should be fired.
