Wander Samuel Franco Sr., a Dominican professional baseball shortstop for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball, was born on March 1, 2001, in Ban (MLB). In 2021, he made his MLB debut.

Wander Alexander and Wander Javier, his siblings, were members of the Houston Astros and San Francisco Giants franchises, respectively. In the 1990s, his father, Wander, also played minor league baseball. Nancy Aybar, his mother, is the sister of Erick Aybar and Willy Aybar, both Major League Baseball players.

In the 2017 international class, Franco was rated as one of the top international prospects. On July 2, 2017, he joined the Tampa Bay Rays organization. Franco debuted professionally with the Princeton Rays in 2018.

Prior to the Rays’ series against the Boston Red Sox on June 20, 2021, the Rays announced Franco’s promotion to the major leagues. On June 22, he was officially added to the 40-man roster.

On the same day, Franco made his MLB debut. Franco hit his first career hit, home run, and RBI in the fifth inning, driving in three runs against Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodrguez.

Wander Samuel Franco Jr, Wanda Franco’s son, was born in late 2018 and will be three years old in 2021.
