Barcelona: President Joan Laporta To Hold A Press Conference On Lionel Messi’s Departure

Barcelona president Joan Laporta will run a press conference at 11.00pm today to explicate Lionel Messi’s contract situation and what is happening because of La Liga regulations.

Joan Laporta has been trying to ensure that Lionel Messi continues as an Fc Barcelona player but Financial constraints are separating the two parties.

The club’s president will hold a press conference to address all the issues associated with his departure from the club after 17 years.

Announcing the departure of the clubs greatest player, Barcelona said in a statement;

“Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles (Spanish Liga regulations).

‘As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled.
