Keir Starmer is a popular British politician and former lawyer as well as the Leader of the Labour Party and Leader of the Opposition since 2020.

Sir Keir Rodney Starmer was born on September 2, 1962, in Southwark, London, England to parents, Josephine Baker and Rodney Starmer. He is the second born of his parents’ four children. His mother was a nurse while his father worked as a toolmaker.

Keir Starmer is of British nationality and was raised in the small town of Oxted, Surrey. With regards to his education, Keir Starmer attended Reigate Grammar School. He later graduated from the University of Leeds with a first-class Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in 1985. This made him the first member of his family to graduate.

Keir Starmer went ahead to graduate from the University of Oxford as a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) in 1986 after having studied in St Edmund Hall, Oxford. As a multi-instrumentalist, he played the flute, piano, recorder as well as violin and was a junior exhibitioner at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama until the age of 18.
