Female Nigerian singer, Simi, has expressed her gratitude to her daughter, Deja for inspiring her to write a song that gained her an award.

Simi was named the songwriter at the jus ended 14th edition of Headies Awards held at La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort in Ibeju-Lekki. The category required no votes as the judges of the event, were required to decide on who best fits the award taking into consideration, the composition, arrangement, and rendition.

Simi bypassed her colleagues in the category including Fireboy, Burna Boy, Omah Lay, Wurld, and her husband, Adekunle Gold to win the category with her song, Duduke.

Duduke, according to Simi means heart or drum, and in the song, she uses a beat to describe the heartbeat of her unborn child whom she refers to as her guardian angel. Receiving the award, she dedicated it to her daughter and said, “Deja thank you for inspiring me”.
