Dr. Abiy Ahmed is the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia since 2nd April 2018. Dr. Abiy Ahmed was born on August 15, 1976, in Ethiopia. He grew up in Beshasha near Agaro and was raised by his Muslim father and a Christian mother. Dr. Abiy Ahmed is a Christian and belongs to the Charismatic division of Christianity.

Dr. Abiy is also an accomplished writer of 3 books. “Medemer” is the first book he authored where he advocates for a fresh, Ethiopian-centric approach to the country’s politics.

Dr. Abiy Ahmed Educational Background
While serving in the Ethiopian National Defense Force, Abiy received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the Microlink Information Technology College in Addis Ababa in 2009. Abiy also holds a Master of Arts in transformational leadership acquired from the business school at Greenwich University in London, in collaboration with the International Leadership Institute, Adis Ababa in 2011.

After, he pursued a Master of Business Administration from the Leadstar College of Management and Leadership in Addis Ababa in 2013. In 2017, he started his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) work as a regular student, .at the Institute for Peace and Security Studies, Addis Ababa University. He did his Ph.D. work on the Agaro constituency with the Ph.D. thesis entitled “Social Capital and its Role in Traditional Conflict Resolution in Ethiopia: The Case of Inter-Religious Conflict In Jimma Zone state”. Abiy published a related short research article on de-escalation strategies in the Horn of Africa in a special journal issue dedicated to countering violent extremism.

Ethiopia’s first couple has three daughters and an adopted son known as Million. The daughters of Dr. Abiy Ahmed have managed to keep a low profile life as such not much is known about them.
