The president of the Republic of Ghana, his excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will address the nation the measures taken to address the spread of coronavirus in Ghana.

Today, January 31, 2021, will be the 23rd update from the president on the measures imposed to ensure that the virus is eradicated from the country. Ghana has already experienced a partial lockdown during the first face of the coronavirus pandemic. The Greater Accra region and some parts of the central regions that became the hotspot for the spread the virus were locked down.

However, after the number of positive cases reduced from thousands to tens, the restrictions were eased leaving the safe protocol measures to be observed. After the elections campaign and social gatherings were encouraged, the number has surged forcing the Ghana Medical Association to as a matter of urgency pushed for a lockdown. We have also received information that the test of the travellers at the Kotoko International Airport which cost $150 has been reduced to $50.

According to the Disease Surveillance Department of the Ghana Health Service, Ghana has recorded 65,427 positive cases. 60,357 recoveries. 4,665 active cases. 797 news cases and 405 deaths. This is the data as of January 27, 2021. The president will give an up to date update and impose restrictions. Schools will likely be closed down after weeks of reopening.
