Sammy Hagar was born on October 13, 1947, in Salinas, California. His parents, Bobby Hagar and Gladys Hagar, had lived in a labor camp in Salinas before resettling in Fontana, California. His father had made a bad name for himself as a result of his strong alcohol addiction and resorted to violence at the least provocation. His father’s irresponsibility forced Sammy to take on minor jobs at the tender age of 4.  When he turned 10, his mother abandoned his father for good, taking Hagar and his 3 sisters along with her.
