Arguably one of the most populous and influential constituencies in the country. The Sekondi constituency is a constituency in the Western region of Ghana.
over the years, data and election results from the constituency suggest that the Sekondi constituency is a very stronghold of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the party has managed to emerge winners in all elections organized from 1996 to 2016 at both the parliamentary and presidential elections.
The incumbent Member of Parliament is Andrew Egyapa Mercer who contested on the ticket of the NPP. Egyapa Mercer won his party primaries again to contest for the parliamentary seat on the side of the NPP. He will be competing with Charles Hagan, also known as ‘Panya’ of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Below are data on the outcome of both presidential and parliamentary elections in the Sekondi constituency.
