Chiwetel Umeadi Ejiofor is an English actor and filmmaker.

He was born on 10th July 1977 in Forest Gate, London to Nigerian parents, Obiajulu and Arinze Ejiofor.

Chiwetel attended Dulwich College in London. He also attended the London Academy of music and dramatic art after which he enrolled at the National Youth Theatre in 1995. His acting career is believed to have started in 1995.

He made his movie debut in the television film, Deadly voyage in 1996 and become a stage actor in London.

In 1999, he starred in the British film, Greenwich Meantime and in 2000, starred in Blue/orange. He was nominated for the Ian Charleson Award that same year and was awarded the Jack Tinker Award for Most Promising Newcomer at the Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards. He also received the London Evening Standard Theatre Award for Outstanding Newcomer and a nomination for the Laurence Oliver Award for Best Supporting Actor for the Blue/Orange movie.

Chiwetel is the elder brother of the famous CNN journalist Zain Asher.

He is not married and has no children. He is however known to be in a relationship with Australian Model, Frances Aatenir.
