The rookie quarterback delivered another impressive performance in a 27-2 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, although head coach Sean Payton stopped short of naming him the regular-season starter.
Nix completed 8 of 9 passes for 80 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown pass to Tim Patrick, earning a 140.7 quarterback rating.
He led two scoring drives, showing poise and a strong understanding of the game. Although a potential touchdown to Javonte Williams was called back due to a penalty, Nix’s overall performance was notable.
Sean Payton acknowledged Nix’s solid play, highlighting his comfort level and ability to distribute the ball effectively.

Nix also displayed good footwork, particularly during a third-and-3 play where he scrambled and nearly completed a 14-yard touchdown pass.
In two preseason games, Nix has completed 23 of 33 passes for 205 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Meanwhile, his competitor, Jarrett Stidham, has struggled, adding to the growing calls for Nix to be named the starter.
Nix expressed confidence in the offensive plays called by Payton, noting that they matched his comfort level and allowed him to execute effectively.
As the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Nix is making a strong case to lead the Broncos in the regular season.
